Dr. Larry Komer is a well-known authority in obstetrics and
gynaecology who has conducted extensive research into issues relating to
women's health. He is an active member of the consulting staff in
Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in
Burlington, Ontario, where he also maintains a busy private practice.
Recently appointed medical editor for the innovative journal, Obstetrics
and Gynaecology 2000, Dr. Komer is considered to be one of
today's leading experts on menopause.
The founder and director of the Peak Performance Institute, an
organization dedicated to "developing the mind, to improve
performance," Dr. Komer is also co-creator with his wife,
Joan, a self-esteem counsellor, of the very popular Be Menopositive
public information seminars held nationwide.
Their warm, engaging presentation of Be Menopositive offers
just the right blend to provide important medical information, while
recognizing the emotional and psychological impact of menopause.
As a result of this positive, factual and innovative approach, the
seminars have sparked national interest among media, health care
providers, public health organizations and numerous women's groups.
Dr. Komer earned his medical degree from Queen's University in
Kingston, Ontario. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology at McMaster University's School of Medicine and has held
positions in the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada;
the Ontario Medical Association, Section of Obstetrics and Gynaecology;
and is Past President of the Ontario Society of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology. Dr. Komer is a Fellow of the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and a member of the North
American Menopause Society.
Dr. Komer is committed to improving the provision of health
care for women through education and understanding of women's health
